Faure - Pavane for Wind Quintet
DESCRIPTION
Faure's Pavane Op. 50 is a familiar tune with many wonderful woodwind solos. In this wind quintet arrangement, I have made a conscious decision to retain the original key of the piece (F# minor) and woodwind solos.
Look out for the interesting tone colours when the flute plays in its lower registers with higher unison passages by the oboe or the clarinet. This decision to put the flute in its lower register is also made to help ensure that the other woodwinds have a chance to lead the melody as well.
