Goodall - Ecce Homo for Wind Quintet
"Ecce homo qui est faba" (Latin for "Behold the man who is a bean") is composed by Howard Goodall for the classic British sitcom Mr Bean. This is a such a well-recognised tune for a timeless TV show.
The original Ecce Homo is for a choir in the key of C major. In this transcription for wind quintet, F major is used instead to be more suited for woodwind register, especially when the clarinet is the leading voice.
For this transcription, the wind quintet can do well with a fullness in tone with an organ-like timbre and harmony to fully bring out the harmonies originally written for a full choir. The wind quintet can also do well to perform this piece in a resonant venue similar to a cathedral or the like.
