Handel - Alla Hornpipe from Water Music Suite for Wind Quintet

$16.00

DESCRIPTION

Alla hornpipe is a popular movement from Handel's Water Music, Suite in D Major, HWV 349. Its triple-time hornpipe dance rhythm is especially suitable for the wind quintet with its light and upbeat character! All hornpipe has some prominent brass parts that needed to be adapted for the wind quintet. For example, the oboe takes the original Trumpet 1 part because the oboe is the perhaps the closest sounding woodwind instrument to the trumpet, while the clarinet takes the Trumpet 2 part.

The woodwinds can do well by adopting a brilliante style of playing to mimic the trumpets. The horn retains the original Horn 1 part and the bassoon takes on the Horn 2 part because some composers believe that the bassoon is the closest sounding woodwind instrument to the horn.
